The Cave Is a Physical Activity
The lava tube includes a low ceiling, uneven volcanic rock, narrow sections, and damp footing. Visitors use helmets and may need to crouch, so this is not the right stop for loose sandals, large luggage, or anyone who cannot comfortably bend and balance on irregular ground.
The cave is naturally cool compared with the August air outside. Carry a light layer if you are sensitive to temperature changes, keep both hands available where possible, and move at the pace of the person in front of you.
