Three color-coded sightseeing-bus routes leave from Kawaguchiko Station, but they serve very different parts of the Fuji Five Lakes area. Choosing by color before boarding prevents a common mistake: using the frequent Kawaguchiko bus timetable for a much less frequent Lake Motosuko journey.
Key Facts For Travelers
Frequency Changes Sharply by Route
The current Red Line timetable lists departures from Kawaguchiko Station every 15 minutes from 9:00 AM to 5:45 PM. The Green Line is less frequent, and the Blue Line lists only five outbound departures at 9:35, 10:35, 11:35 AM, 1:35 PM, and 3:35 PM.
That difference matters most for Lake Motosuko. Save the outbound and return timetable before leaving Kawaguchiko Station, and do not assume another bus will arrive in 15 minutes because that is true on the Red Line.
Choose a Pass by Travel Pattern
The common 1-Day Pass covers the Kawaguchiko, Saiko, and Motosuko sightseeing buses and is sold online, at the Kawaguchiko Station counter, and on sightseeing buses. The 2-Day Pass is sold online and at the station counter.
From July 1 through September 10, the official ticket-counter page lists Kawaguchiko Station bus-counter hours as 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Buy before boarding when possible during busy periods, and keep the digital or paper pass ready each time you get on or off.
Traveler Actions
- Match each attraction to Red, Green, or Blue before building the day’s itinerary.
- Save screenshots of both outbound and return times when using the Blue Line to Lake Shojiko or Lake Motosuko.
- Use a 1-Day Pass for a single full sightseeing day and compare the 2-Day Pass when staying overnight around the lakes.
- Board the color-coded sightseeing buses from Kawaguchiko Station platform 1 and confirm the destination with staff.
- Allow for traffic delays and avoid planning a tight train or highway-bus connection immediately after the final sightseeing leg.
