Information checked: September 4, 2026, 8:31 AM JST.

Fuji Kyuko Bus has published service-level changes for the Mt. Fuji Triathlon around Lake Kawaguchiko on Sunday, September 6. Detours and cancellations are scheduled from 7:35 AM to 1:35 PM, affecting local routes and the Kawaguchiko and Saiko sightseeing buses.

Short answerThe largest disruption is to the Saiko Sightseeing Bus: departures from Kawaguchiko Station at 9:10, 9:40, 10:10, 10:40, 11:10, and 11:40 AM are cancelled. Other listed services will detour and skip selected lakeside stops, so allow extra time and use the replacement stops identified below.

Saiko Sightseeing Bus Cancellations

The operator lists six cancelled departures from Kawaguchiko Station: 9:10, 9:40, 10:10, 10:40, 11:10, and 11:40 AM. Service is scheduled to resume with the 12:10 PM departure, but race operations and road conditions may still affect running time.

Later Saiko departures at 12:10, 12:40, and 1:10 PM will detour. During the detour, stops from Fuji-no-Yado Ohashi through Roadside Station Katsuyama cannot be used; the operator directs passengers to Kawaguchiko Herb Hall or Tenjinshita instead.

Kawaguchiko And Local Route Detours

Selected Kofu Line departures from Kofu Station at 7:40, 8:10, 8:50, 9:30, 10:40, and 11:40 AM will detour and will not serve Kawaguchiko Museum of Art-mae. Use Kaitabi-mae instead. The 10:18 AM Tenka Chaya Line departure from Tenka Chaya is included in the same notice.

Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus and Oishi-Ashigawa services departing Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center from 9:27 AM through 1:12 PM will not serve the Kawaguchiko Museum of Art stop. Use Music Forest Museum / Hotori-no-Hotel Ban as the alternative.

Plan A Flexible Lake Day

This is a newly published bus-operator notice with exact affected journeys. It adds service details beyond the broader road-restriction information already announced for the triathlon.

If your itinerary depends on one of these stops, travel before the affected window, walk only where a safe public route is available, or move the lake visit to later in the afternoon. Do not enter a closed race section or wait at a stop the operator has marked as unavailable.

Traveler Actions

  • Avoid the six cancelled Saiko Sightseeing Bus departures between 9:10 and 11:40 AM.
  • Use the official replacement stop for any detoured route you plan to take.
  • Allow extra connection time at Kawaguchiko Station and around the north shore.
  • Check live bus operation shortly before boarding because road conditions can add delays.
  • Keep out of race-control areas and follow police, marshal, and bus-staff directions.
