The Yamanashi Maglev Exhibition Center in Tsuru is offering three hands-on model-making activities on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13. Each day has a morning and afternoon workshop window, and the official notice warns that contents may change and kits are limited.
Key Facts For Travelers
Choose The Activity By Time And Budget
The Linear Craft class costs JPY 650 and is listed at about 30 minutes. The build-your-own linear motor car activity costs JPY 3,300 and takes about 60 minutes. The N-scale maglev model kit costs JPY 2,200 and is listed at about 20 minutes.
These are activity estimates, not guaranteed start times. Families with a tight return bus or museum plan should choose a shorter kit and allow time for payment, instructions, and cleanup.
Museum Admission And Visit Planning
The center is open 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, with last admission at 4:30 PM. Its standard paid-pavilion admission is listed separately from the workshop fees, so ask staff what museum admission is needed for your chosen activity before paying.
The facility guide lists the regular Doki-Doki Linear Pavilion admission as JPY 420 for adults and university students, JPY 310 for high-school students, and JPY 200 for elementary and junior-high students. Preschool children enter the paid pavilion free, and the Wakuwaku Yamanashi Pavilion is free for everyone.
Access From The Fuji Five Lakes
The center describes itself as about 30 minutes by car from the Mt. Fuji and Fuji Five Lakes area. Its access page also lists a route bus from JR Otsuki Station and free passenger-car parking.
Do not plan the craft visit around seeing a moving test train. Test-run days and exact movements are separate operational information, and the center does not publish individual running times.
Traveler Actions
- Arrive near the start of the morning or afternoon window because kits are limited.
- Choose the activity duration before joining if you have a bus or onward booking.
- Budget the listed workshop fee separately from any museum admission.
- Recheck the official notice because the activity contents can change without notice.
- Treat a possible train movement as a bonus, not a timed part of the workshop.
