Fujiyoshida City has updated its cooling-shelter information for summer 2026. The spaces are intended as short heat-safety refuges and can help visitors walking around central Fujiyoshida, but opening days, hours, and capacity differ by facility.
Key Facts For Travelers
Useful Locations And Hours
City Hall’s main lobby is listed from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays. The civic hall entrance is listed from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM except on its closing day, and the library lists five cooling seats from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Tuesday through Sunday, with regular library users taking priority. Fujiraji’s entrance lobby is listed daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The official page also lists community centers and participating private stores with their own hours and capacities.
Important Limits
Availability can change because of temporary closures, maintenance, events, or capacity. The city asks visitors to follow facility instructions, avoid long work sessions, and avoid disturbing other users. A cooling shelter is not a substitute for emergency medical help if someone is confused, collapses, or cannot cool down.
Traveler Actions
- Open the city’s live facility list before setting out and choose a nearby backup location.
- Carry your own water because drinks are generally not supplied at the shelters.
- Use the space for a cooling break and follow staff directions and posted capacity limits.
- Reduce exposed walking during the hottest part of the day when the WBGT forecast is high.
- Call emergency services if heat illness appears severe rather than relying only on a cooling space.
