The Yamanakako Tourism Association opened entries for the 20th Yamanakako Photo Grand Prix on August 8. International visitors may find the email-entry option practical, but the photograph must satisfy strict location, originality, file-size, and editing rules.
Key Facts For Travelers
What Travelers Can Photograph
The official theme includes Mt. Fuji and Lake Yamanaka through the seasons, nature, local life, festivals, and visitor experiences. The work must be an original photograph taken by the entrant and must either have been photographed in Yamanakako Village or clearly concern Yamanakako.
The competition accepts only unpublished work that is not scheduled for another contest. A photograph already awarded elsewhere or currently under consideration elsewhere is not eligible, although a previously rejected image may be submitted.
Important Editing and Drone Rules
Digitally composited, AI-generated, transformed, or otherwise factually altered images are not accepted. Drone photographs are also excluded. Standard camera planning matters: choose a legal viewpoint, keep roads and private land clear, and secure permission when recognizable people appear.
The entrant is responsible for portrait rights. The association may use winning photographs for its calendar, brochures, posters, and other tourism materials under the published rules.
How Email Entry Works
Email entries must be JPEG files between 3 MB and 10 MB. The message should include the photograph title and reading, approximate shooting location, shooting date, entrant name, and a reachable telephone number. For multiple files, the organizer asks entrants to use an online storage service and clearly match filenames to titles.
The official page says an acceptance email should arrive within one week. Keep the original file because selected entrants will be asked to provide the original data. Results are planned for early March 2027 on the official tourism website.
