Fujiyoshida’s official 2026 certificate program recognizes hikers who start the historic Yoshida Trail at Umagaeshi or Naka-no-Chaya and continue either to the fifth station or the summit. The proof must be collected during the hike, not reconstructed after the trip.
Key Facts For Travelers
Take the Right Two Photos
The first photograph must show the applicant at Naka-no-Chaya or Umagaeshi. The second must show the same applicant at the chosen finish: either the fifth station for the halfway certificate or the summit for the full certificate. The official rules do not allow both certificates from one application.
Keep the original phone or camera files so the date can be confirmed. A landscape photograph without the applicant is not enough; the official page specifically requires the person applying to be visible.
Where and When to Apply
The two listed counters are the Fujiyoshida Tourist Information Center opposite the north side of Mt. Fuji Station and Roadside Station Fujiyoshida. Both list certificate reception hours of 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.
The summit certificate has an application and issuance deadline of September 30, even though the summit-course climbing period ends September 10. The halfway certificate can be earned through October 31 and issued through November 30. Late applications are not accepted.
International Visitor Notes
If you cannot visit an application counter after the hike, the official page allows photographs to be sent by email so staff can provide an application form after checking them. However, prizes are not shipped overseas, so international visitors should treat the certificate itself as the main benefit.
This certificate does not replace trail-entry procedures, weather checks, hut planning, or the official climbing-season rules. The lower historical trail and the high-altitude summit route have different terrain and seasonal limits, so plan the full walk conservatively.
Traveler Actions
- Photograph yourself at Umagaeshi or Naka-no-Chaya before continuing uphill.
- Take the second self-included proof photo at the fifth station or summit and preserve its date metadata.
- Choose the summit or halfway certificate; the program does not issue both together.
- Apply at the tourist information center or Roadside Station Fujiyoshida between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
- Meet the September 30 or November 30 issuance deadline and do not expect prize shipping outside Japan.
