Fujikyu Railway’s cycle-train service can simplify a cycling trip around the Fuji Five Lakes because a bicycle may be taken aboard designated local trains without being packed into a rinko bag. August uses special direction and time windows, and busy dates, limited express trains, and JR through services are excluded.

August Direction and Time Windows

Weekday service is one-way for the published August window: only Kawaguchiko-bound local trains departing Otsuki at 3:00 PM or later are listed. There is no Otsuki-bound weekday cycle-train setting. Weekend and holiday windows add early outbound trains and selected return periods, but they are not all-day permissions.

The railway marks expected high-demand dates as unavailable and may refuse bicycles when a train is crowded even outside the published exclusion dates. Recheck the August calendar and the day’s operating information before riding to a station.

Stations, Car Position, and Capacity

Boarding and alighting are available at 16 stations, excluding Kami-Otsuki and Kasei. At Otsuki, bicycles can be handled only on the Fujikyu Railway platform. The designated position is the Otsuki-end car between Otsuki and Mt. Fuji Station, and the Kawaguchiko-end car between Mt. Fuji Station and Kawaguchiko.

Each traveler may bring one bicycle, and a train can carry no more than eight. If the limit has been reached, the operator asks cyclists to use a later train. Mopeds, bicycles with training wheels, unusual cycles that could interfere with operations, and heavily soiled bicycles are not accepted.

Safe Handling Inside Stations and Trains

Do not ride a bicycle on the platform, inside the station, or in the train. A bicycle without a stand must be fixed to a handrail with a suitable strap and still supported by its owner against unexpected movement. A bicycle with a stand does not require the strap under the published rule, but the traveler must continue to hold it.

General passengers also use the designated car. Keep aisles and doors clear, do not dismantle or repair a bicycle in the carriage, and use a spacious area if assembly work is necessary at a station. Children of elementary-school age or younger need an accompanying adult to bring a bicycle aboard.
