Fujikyu Bus will reduce its Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station service to five departures in each direction from Thursday, October 1, 2026. Travelers planning an autumn sightseeing visit need to note the earlier last return and the possibility of suspension or a shorter route when road conditions change.
Key Facts For Travelers
October Departures From Fuji and Kawaguchiko Stations
The five buses leave Mt. Fuji Station at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., then 12:50 and 1:50 p.m. They depart Kawaguchiko Station ten minutes later at 9:40, 10:40 and 11:40 a.m., then 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Scheduled arrivals at the 5th Station are 10:35 and 11:35 a.m., 12:35, 1:55 and 2:55 p.m.
This replaces the September 11-30 timetable, which has seven daily departures. Visitors should therefore avoid relying on a September screenshot or an older journey-planning result when organizing an October trip.
Return Times From The 5th Station
Downhill buses leave the 5th Station at 11:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 2:50 and 3:50 p.m. They are scheduled to reach Kawaguchiko Station at 12:15, 1:15, 2:15, 3:35 and 4:35 p.m., continuing to Mt. Fuji Station ten minutes later.
Build in time before the final 3:50 p.m. departure. Mountain weather, traffic and road controls can affect the service, and missing the final bus can leave limited alternatives.
Fares, Tickets and Payment
The official fare from Mt. Fuji Station or Kawaguchiko Station to the 5th Station is JPY 2,000 for an adult one-way ticket and JPY 1,000 for a child. Round trips cost JPY 3,400 for adults and JPY 1,700 for children and are valid for two days from purchase.
One-way tickets can be paid for onboard with cash or a compatible transport IC card; credit cards are not accepted onboard. The operator lists online round-trip sales through October 30. At the 5th Station ticket counter, payment is cash only.
Road Conditions and Closed Summit Trails
If the Fuji Subaru Line is closed or open only as far as the 1st Station, the bus is suspended. If the road opens only to the 4th Station, buses turn back there instead of reaching the 5th Station. Check the operator’s live information before leaving your hotel or station.
The official Mt. Fuji climbing site states that all summit trails are closed outside the climbing season. An operating sightseeing bus to the 5th Station does not mean that climbing above the seasonal closure is permitted or supported.
