Private cars cannot use the Fuji Subaru Line during the 2026 restriction period, so drivers must transfer at Fujisan Parking. The official shuttle timetable treats August 13-16 as the weekend and holiday service period.
Key Facts For Travelers
Where Drivers Must Transfer
Fujisan Parking is beside the Fujiyoshida Interchange at 5597-84 Kamiyoshida, Fujiyoshida. The prefecture lists 1,400 parking spaces, toilets, and an information center; the parking area remains available around the clock during the restriction period, while the information center operates 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.
Electric and fuel-cell vehicles are exempt from the private-car restriction only after verification at Fujisan Parking. Drivers must bring the vehicle registration document, and the confirmation cannot be completed at the Fuji Subaru Line entrance.
Do Not Miss The Yoshida Trail Gate Window
The official timetable warns that buses leaving Fujisan Parking at 1:30 PM or later do not arrive before the Yoshida Trail gate closes at 2:00 PM. Mountain-hut guests are treated differently, but even they are asked to pass the gate before 2:00 PM where possible.
The shuttle ticket is valid for two days, which helps overnight climbers. Sightseers visiting only the 5th Station are not subject to the climbing gate restriction, although weather can still close the road.
Traveler Actions
- Use the official weekend/holiday timetable for travel on August 13-16.
- Allow extra time for parking, buying tickets, queueing, and the roughly 45-minute scheduled bus journey.
- If entering the Yoshida Trail without a mountain-hut exemption, choose a departure well before 1:30 PM.
- Keep the return ticket safe; the official round-trip fare is valid for two days.
- Check road and weather status again on the morning of travel.
