Fujikyu Bus will add one afternoon round trip between Otsuki Station and the Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center on six dates in October 2026. The extra service gives Fuji-area travelers another way to combine a museum visit with rail travel through Otsuki, but it operates only on the listed days and does not guarantee that a maglev test train will run during the visit.
Key Facts For Travelers
Use The Extra Afternoon Round Trip
On the six extra-service dates, the added bus leaves Otsuki Station at 14:45, stops at Sakinomiya at 14:51, Otsuru-mae at 14:52, Tanokura at 14:53 and Michi-no-Eki Tsuru at 14:57, then reaches the exhibition center at 15:00. The added return leaves the center at 15:35 and arrives at Otsuki Station at 15:50.
Because the museum’s last admission is 16:30 and closing time is 17:00, the 15:00 arrival is best treated as a short late-afternoon visit. Travelers wanting more time should use an earlier regular bus shown in the official PDF.
Regular Buses Still Matter
The official PDF shows regular departures from Otsuki Station at 8:45, 9:45, 10:45, 11:35, 12:45 and 13:45. Regular return departures from the exhibition center are listed at 10:12, 11:15, 13:15, 14:40, 16:15 and 17:15. The extra 14:45 outbound and 15:35 return sit between those regular services.
The museum-access bus operates on days when the center is open. Do not assume the added trip runs outside the six announced dates, and check the operator notice and museum calendar again on the travel day.
Plan The Museum Visit Separately From A Test Run
The Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center is in Tsuru City, east of the Fuji Five Lakes. It can work as a side trip when traveling through Otsuki, or as an indoor alternative during a Fuji-area itinerary, but it is not located at the lakes themselves.
Individual visitors do not need to reserve museum admission. However, the center does not publish exact maglev test-run times, and tests may change or be cancelled without notice. Plan around the exhibits and official opening hours rather than promising yourself a live train pass.
Featured Image Fit
The featured Pexels photograph shows buses waiting at a Japanese terminal, directly matching the extra-bus and station-transfer subject. It is an illustrative transport image, not Otsuki Station or the exact Fujikyu bus used for the exhibition-center service; that distinction is stated here and in the media description.
Traveler Actions
- Use the extra 14:45 outbound and 15:35 return only on October 16, 23 and 27-30, 2026.
- Choose an earlier regular bus if you want more than a short visit before the museum closes at 17:00.
- Check the official PDF for your exact intermediate stop instead of estimating from the terminal times.
- Recheck both the Fujikyu Bus notice and the museum calendar on the travel day.
- Treat a live maglev test run as unconfirmed; exact test times are not published and operations can change.
