Information checked: August 16, 2026, 8:31 AM JST.
The official operator has extended the Lake Kawaguchiko sightseeing day with a summer schedule through August 31. The extra late-afternoon departures are useful for travelers combining the boat with the nearby ropeway, museums, or a morning arrival from Tokyo.
Key Facts For Travelers
The Final Boat Is Not Guaranteed in Bad Weather
The published summer timetable gives visitors 18 listed departures, but the operator says services may be suspended at short notice because of weather or other operating conditions.
If the cruise is a priority, use an earlier departure rather than building the day around 5:30 PM. That leaves room to move the boat before or after another lakefront activity if wind or visibility changes.
Build a Realistic Lakefront Connection
The pier is at Funatsuhama, roughly 10 minutes on foot from Kawaguchiko Station. The Red Line sightseeing bus also serves the Sightseeing Boat/Ropeway Entrance stop.
Allow time to buy tickets and reach the boarding area. A 20-minute cruise does not mean a 20-minute total stop once walking, ticketing, boarding, and possible queues are included.
Traveler Actions
- Check the operator’s service notice on the day of travel, especially when wind or rain is forecast.
- Choose an earlier cruise if seeing the lake from the water is a main trip goal.
- Allow at least 45-60 minutes in the itinerary for walking, ticketing, boarding, the cruise, and disembarkation.
- Keep the official 5:30 PM final departure separate from the last ticket-purchase or boarding cutoff at the pier.
- Use the Red Line bus stop or walk from Kawaguchiko Station, but leave extra time during summer congestion.
